Jalauka is mentioned in indigenous medicine from its very beginning 'Dhanvantari' is the deity of Ayurved. He carries 'Jalauka ' in one of his hands as a symbol of surgical instrumentation or surgery 'Sushrut' is the godfather of Ayurvedic surgery.
